Overcoming Hurts

As I get on with age, I realise that many things which used to bother me in the past no longer do. Thus, I surprised myself when I recently felt hurt over a minor matter - I was excluded from an event. That hurt led to other sins: I allowed the hurt to plague my mind for about a day, started to doubt myself and kept asking Lyn why he thought I was left out. However, this post is not an introspective one. Rather, it is an overcomer's post.

Lyn reminded me that there were other more important things to think about. Philippians 4:8 came to mind: Fix your thoughts on what is true, honourable, right, pure, lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

I started to recite "I am the righteousness of God in Christ" (as James 3:22 proclaims that "this righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe") and the self-doubt disappeared.

I struggled with whether to write this post and finally decided to. Negative thoughts may attack anyone at the least expected time and it is my hope that this little sharing may uplift someone. God's Word provides
shelter in any storm. Thanks be to God.

Fix your thoughts on what is true, honourable, right, pure, lovely and admirable.
